We live in one. And must create the other, if it is ever to be.”

Hello, my name is Sara Ann Wallace.

I am an English professor at Bakersfield College and have been since 2015. I’m from San Diego where I went to High School at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. I went to UC Santa Cruz for my bachelor’s degree in English Literature, spent a year in France while I was in school, and then went back to get my master’s degree in American and British Literature at Mills College in Oakland.

I have worked as a community news editor, journalist, and  journal manager at a Scientific publishing company. I am a utility player when it comes to reading, writing, and teaching. I like to do it all, read it all, and teach it all. I have taught Composition and Reading, Literature, Shakespeare, Latino Literature, Survey of English Literature, and Creative Writing to students on campus, inside the prisons, and on-line.

My writing interests vary from a blog about my teaching experience to academic essays on Jane Austen. My reading interests are similarly varied. I like YA fiction, Scifi, Fantasy, and classical literature.

I currently live in Bakersfield with my husband, two sons, and Labradoodle, who is really the one in charge.

This site is a place to publish my work and get feedback on it while I work on it.  I realized recently how much I miss it, and I wanted to get back into it. Please let me know if you have any constructive criticism about my work or would like to collaborate in putting together a writing group.
